Trans Nzoia Residents Back Dr. Debora Mulongo for Health Cabinet Secretary

Residents in Trans Nzoia County have backed the appointment Dr. Debora Mulongo, the nominee for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Health saying she would revolutionize the sector if she receives Parliament's approval.

While appreciating President William Ruto for her appointment, the residents emphasized that the change in the health docket is crucial for its transformation.

"We are greatful that this docket has been brought back to Trans Nzoia. We would like to see the social health insurance fund abolished ro allow room to better it," said Mr. Samwel Ananda.


They also called for the revival of the Linda Mama program, saying its scrapping has greatly affected maternal care for the most vulnerable women across the country.


"We know her entry into the ministry will be very crucial in turning around the health matters in this country which has stalled," said Mr. Silas Barasa.


Women in the county also called on Parliament to approve the nomination of Dr. Mulongo, saying she offers a better chance of revolutionizing the health sector.

They said President Ruto had shown a commitment to fixing the anomalies that were pointed out by the youth, hence he deserves more time to offer working solutions to the challenges.

"We commend the President for retaining a woman from Trans Nzoia as a nominee for the position of Cabinet Secretary in the health docket," said nominated Mrs Belinda Halima .

They said the President has proven he is committed to gender equity, judging by the number of women named in the first phase of the Cabinet Secretary nominees.

"We as women feel proud that the President is keen on promoting our inclusion into his governance structures across appointing positions," said Mrs. Elizabeth Makokha from Cherang'any subcounty.
