Raila’s North Rift Pointman Accuses ODM Leaders of Sabotaging PAC Chairmanship Bid

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has accused some leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of orchestrating a plan to hinder his appointment as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the National Assembly.

Amisi claimed attempts to block his appointment are fueled by personal motives, noting that other members who were appointed to parliamentary positions alongside him have already taken up their roles without encountering the same obstacles.

"Since my nomination to that role bu the party, there has been a targeted attempt to undermine me, despite my unwavering commitment to the party," the legislator spoke in Kitale.

Amisi argued that he is the most suitable candidate for the position, highlighting his unique standing as the only ODM Member of Parliament in the entire North Rift Region.

"The position of PAC Chair has always been reserved for the opposition, and as the only ODM representative from this region, I should be the natural choice," Amisi stated.

He emphasized his contribution to ensuring that Raila Odinga has consistently secured victory in Trans Nzoia County in every election during his leadership.

He stressed that his loyalty to the party and his consistent efforts in rallying support for ODM leader Raila Odinga should qualify him for the role without the need to face an election by the Committee, as some party members are pushing for.

The MP emphasized that if he were given the chance to lead the PAC, he would prioritize combating corruption and promised to implement substantial reforms to tackle graft.

The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
