Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has dismissed calls by Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau to tone down his criticism of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Mr. Bisau had urged Governor Natembeya to exercise caution in his political approach, emphasizing the importance of working with other leaders. The two attended the burial of Mary Clara Ndinyo at Sister Fridah farm.
However, Natembeya maintained that he would not be silenced in his efforts to awaken the Luhya community politically, arguing that Wetang'ula and Mudavadi have failed in their leadership.
“We cannot be intimidated into silence on issues that have long affected our community just to safeguard the interests of Mudavadi and Wetang'ula,” he said.
The governor stressed that the Luhya community must rethink its political strategy to achieve meaningful progress.
“Wetang'ula and Mudavadi are only defending their paychecks. We cannot keep glorifying them while our people continue to suffer,” Natembeya stated.
He further asserted that the 2027 General Election would be a turning point for the community, insisting that Luhyas must have a stronger political voice.
"I urge you, my people, to pray for me and support me because what lies ahead is significant. If what I am foreseeing comes to pass, there will be a new political dispensation," said Natembeya.
Additionally, the governor criticized the government's Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), arguing that both programs have failed.
