Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has stood firm in his approach to politics, emphasizing the need for principled leadership in defending the interests of Kenyans.
Speaking at the funeral of the late Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, Mr. Amisi praised Chebukati's steadfast leadership, noting that, like the late chairman, he intends to uphold his principles in politics.
“Chebukati was a firm leader who stood his ground in election management. This is the kind of politics we should practice,” Amisi stated.
The legislator also commented on Luhya unity, criticizing certain leaders he accused of engaging in what he described as “juvenile politics” that lacks strategic thought.
“Politics is a game of strategies, not just rallying crowds. Those who rely on this brand of politics will not go far,” he asserted.
Amisi further condemned those making insensitive remarks regarding Chebukati’s death, calling them out for mocking a great loss.
He urged such individuals to reflect on the shame brought by their words, particularly in light of the political partnership between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“Those making fun of Chebukati’s death should be ashamed and realize that the working pact between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga leaves them in shame,” said Mr. Amisi.
During the funeral, other leaders also condemned the actions of some individuals who seek to create chaos in funerals for political gain, urging a return to respect and decency in such solemn occasions.
