A group of Christian religious leaders from Trans Nzoia has launched an initiative aimed at urging believers to fully abandon African cultural practices.
Operating under the banner of the Christian Regeneration Movement, the group contends that blending Christian faith with traditional cultural beliefs undermines the purity of holiness.
The movement’s chairman, James Muturi, noted that many Christians tend to incorporate traditional practices into key life events, thereby compromising their spiritual commitment.
"We have observed that some Christians still practise cultural practices especially on tired or passage which is contrary to Christian teachings," said Mr. Muturi.
They father expressed fear that mixing Christianity with African traditional traits dilutes the religion as her the biblical teachings.
"One must choose to either be a traditionalist or a Christian but you can't belong to the two at ago. You can't serve two masters," said pastor Hiram Nginyo.
