MP Caleb Amisi Warns President Ruto of Tough Times Ahead of 2027 Polls

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has stated that President William Ruto’s chances of failing to secure a second term in office are increasingly becoming a reality.

Amisi, who spoke at a rally in Kitale alongside opposition leaders, criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to fulfill its promises to the Kenyan people.

The legislator pointed to the growing unpopularity of President Ruto’s government as a key factor that could derail any hopes of a successful re-election bid.

“It’s clear now that the one-term movement is gaining momentum across the country,” said Amisi, a vocal critic of the ruling government.

He added : “Ruto had promised Kenyans a lot, but those promises remain unfulfilled, and his credibility has taken a hit. His goose is cooked,” he said, to cheers from the gathered crowd.

The opposition leaders also warned the government against using police force to intimidate youths during the Saba Saba rallies on Monday.

The leaders, who wrapped up their two-day Western tour in Kitale, vowed to closely monitor the Monday rallies across the country and cautioned the Kenya Kwanza administration against using violent means to sabotage the peaceful rallies.

"We will observe the Saba Saba rallies on Monday, and any attempt by police to use brutality will face legal action from us," said Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kalonzo added that the Justin Muturi-led People's Restorative Justice Commission (PRJC) would be on high alert and document any unlawful actions by the government against Kenyans participating in the peaceful protests.

"We will remain vigilant on Monday, and the commission headed by Justin Muturi will document any police brutality for legal action," said the former vice president.

Nursing services in public health facilities across Trans Nzoia County have been severely disrupted due to a strike by nurses. The strike was triggered by the county government's failure to address several key issues raised by the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM), the union representing healthcare workers. KNUNM Trans Nzoia Secretary, Edward Cheruiyot, stated that despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Labour, which appointed a conciliator, no resolution had been reached. “The union has done its part, but the government has failed to avert the strike. The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
