Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau Urges Students to Nurture Their Talents Alongside Academics

Kiminini Member of Parliament, Kakai Bisau, has called on students across schools in his constituency to actively develop their talents even as they pursue academic excellence. The MP made the remarks while touring several schools to distribute bursary cheques to deserving students from needy backgrounds.

Speaking at St. Theresa's Bikeke Girls High School, Mr. Bisau emphasized that talents, when nurtured well, can be just as rewarding as traditional white-collar careers.

“I encourage you to identify a talent that you are good in and develop it, since it will be profitable to you in future,” he told students during his visit.

He highlighted the success of local sports personalities as a testament to the power of talent development. Among those he mentioned was David Sakwa, a Harambee Stars player who also plays for Kiminini Combined FC — a team for which the MP serves as patron.

Mr. Bisau also revealed ongoing plans by his office to strengthen support for talent development through infrastructure improvements.

“We are building infrastructure to support talent development, including the establishment of standard pitches in our schools to host games,” he added.

The MP's efforts come at a time when the government and various stakeholders continue to advocate for holistic education that goes beyond the classroom, encouraging students to explore their potential in arts, sports, and other extracurricular areas.

Students and teachers alike welcomed the MP’s remarks and bursary support, noting that such initiatives not only ease the financial burden of education but also motivate learners to pursue their full potential.

Nursing services in public health facilities across Trans Nzoia County have been severely disrupted due to a strike by nurses. The strike was triggered by the county government's failure to address several key issues raised by the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM), the union representing healthcare workers. KNUNM Trans Nzoia Secretary, Edward Cheruiyot, stated that despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Labour, which appointed a conciliator, no resolution had been reached. “The union has done its part, but the government has failed to avert the strike. The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
