Kiminini MP Urges Constituents to Scrutinize Parliamentary Aspirants Ahead of 2027, as He Eyes Governorship

Kiminini Member of Parliament Kakai Bisau has given his constituents the go-ahead to begin evaluating all potential candidates for the parliamentary seat—excluding himself.

Mr. Bisau confirmed that he will not be seeking re-election in Kiminini, as he has set his sights on contesting the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial position in the 2027 general elections.

“Feel free to scrutinize all the aspirants, as I will not be defending my seat as Member of Parliament,” Bisau announced during the funeral of former Chief Geoffrey Mutoka in Mitoto Village.

The MP emphasized his track record, pointing out both his accomplishments and the initiatives he still intends to complete before the end of his term.

“I still have a lot to accomplish in Kiminini before the next general elections. But even as I continue to serve, I seek your blessings as I set my sights on the governorship in 2027,” he added.

Bisau, who previously ran for the gubernatorial seat in both 2013 and 2017, shelved his ambitions in 2022 to support Governor George Natembeya, choosing instead to vie for the Kiminini parliamentary seat.

“I have what it takes to serve the people of Trans Nzoia. I’ll be aiming for a promotion in the 2027 general elections,” he stated confidently.

The first-term MP also took the opportunity to criticize the Trans Nzoia County government for its alleged failure to deliver essential services in the health sector.

“The decision to abandon healthcare services at Kitale County Hospital was a grave mistake. Its closure has significantly impacted the residents of Trans Nzoia,” Bisau lamented, pointing to the county’s shortcomings in addressing critical public needs.

Nursing Services Paralyzed in Trans Nzoia as Nurses Down Tools

Nursing services in public health facilities across Trans Nzoia County have been severely disrupted due to a strike by nurses. The strike was triggered by the county government's failure to address several key issues raised by the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM), the union representing healthcare workers. KNUNM Trans Nzoia Secretary, Edward Cheruiyot, stated that despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Labour, which appointed a conciliator, no resolution had been reached. “The union has done its part, but the government has failed to avert the strike. The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
