Saboti MP Accuses ODM Bigwigs of Pressuring Raila to Join Forces with Ruto

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has accused some leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of misleading the party’s leader, Raila Odinga, into forming a political alliance with President William Ruto, against his core ideals.

Amisi expressed concerns that the union, which hinges on the broad-based government setup, contradicts the political ideology that Raila Odinga has upheld over the years as a defender of the Kenyan people.

"Raila’s political legacy cannot allow him to align with President Ruto. Their approaches to leadership are fundamentally different," Amisi stated during a *Kikao na Vijana* fundraising event in Funyula, Busia County.

He went on to refute claims that those opposing the alliance were being disloyal to ODM, asserting that their loyalty to the party runs deeper, especially given the challenging political environments in which they were elected.

"Those claiming that we are rebels are mistaken. We are more loyal to ODM than they are because we were elected in environments that were less favorable and unpopular," Amisi explained.

The MP also emphasized the need to preserve Raila Odinga's legacy, which he believes is under threat from attempts to force an alliance with Ruto.

"This is not the Raila we know. The Raila we know has always fought for the rights of ordinary Kenyans," he said, criticizing the alliance.

Amisi also took the opportunity to criticize the Kenya Kwanza government, particularly pointing out what he perceived as failures in President William Ruto's administration.

"It’s time to recognize that Ruto has failed to deliver on the promises he made during the election campaign," Amisi said, referring to the government's failure to address critical issues such as the high cost of living and rising unemployment.

Amisi maintained that leaders allied to the Kenya Moja political formation would not bow to pressure from the president or his allies, who have dismissed them as inexperienced leaders.

"We will not bow down to the President, nor will we be silenced, even if they claim we lack experience. We have succeeded in areas where our parties were not popular, and that is proof of our capability," he asserted.

In addition to political concerns, the MP raised alarms about the state of the country’s healthcare system, particularly regarding the misappropriation of Social Health Authority Funds (SHA).

"We will push for the removal of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale through parliamentary action, citing his failure to address the country’s deteriorating healthcare system," he promised.

Area MP Wilberforce Oundo hosted the fundraising event, which was also attended by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Gatundu South MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, and several other prominent leaders.

Nursing Services Paralyzed in Trans Nzoia as Nurses Down Tools

Nursing services in public health facilities across Trans Nzoia County have been severely disrupted due to a strike by nurses. The strike was triggered by the county government's failure to address several key issues raised by the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM), the union representing healthcare workers. KNUNM Trans Nzoia Secretary, Edward Cheruiyot, stated that despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Labour, which appointed a conciliator, no resolution had been reached. “The union has done its part, but the government has failed to avert the strike. The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
