Saboti MP Caleb Amisi Earns Master’s Degree in International Relations, Marking New Milestone in Resilient Journey

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has reached a significant new milestone in his inspiring journey of resilience, having been conferred with a Master’s degree in International Relations from the United States International University-Africa (USIU).

Mr. Amisi was among the graduating class of 2025 during USIU’s commencement ceremony held on Saturday, marking a moment of triumph that traces its roots back to humble beginnings.

"Twenty-five years ago, I walked through the gates of Starehe Boys’ Centre and School armed with only a padlock. We don’t choose where, when, or to whom we are born — but we certainly have the power to choose our own destiny," Amisi reflected in a heartfelt Facebook post shortly after the graduation.

Born and raised as an orphan in a modest household in Western Kenya, Amisi’s early life was marked by hardship.

However, his academic excellence shone through when he emerged as the top KCPE candidate in the region in the year 2000.

That achievement earned him admission to the prestigious Starehe Boys’ Centre — a stepping stone that would redefine his future.

Over the years, the second-term MP has maintained a strong commitment to education, not just in his personal pursuits but also through his work as a legislator.

His bursary programme has supported hundreds of underprivileged students in Saboti Constituency, enabling them to access quality education and opportunities.

“Education changed my life,” he often says at public events. “That’s why I will continue to invest in it for the benefit of those who come from the same background I did," said Mr. Amisi.

His latest academic achievement comes at a time when he continues to play an active role in Kenya’s political and policy landscape, particularly in youth empowerment and international diplomacy.

Amisi's story continues to resonate with many across the country — particularly the youth — as a testament to what determination, vision, and hard work can achieve, regardless of one’s beginnings.

Nursing Services Paralyzed in Trans Nzoia as Nurses Down Tools

Nursing services in public health facilities across Trans Nzoia County have been severely disrupted due to a strike by nurses. The strike was triggered by the county government's failure to address several key issues raised by the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM), the union representing healthcare workers. KNUNM Trans Nzoia Secretary, Edward Cheruiyot, stated that despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Labour, which appointed a conciliator, no resolution had been reached. “The union has done its part, but the government has failed to avert the strike. The conciliator was appointed, but no meetings have taken place, and no progress has been made,” Cheruiyot said. At the core of the strike are several unresolved issues. One of the primary concerns is the failure to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2025-2029 period. "Negotiations for the CBA have stalled. The government promised to form a committee to address the matter, ...
