Kitale Agriculture ASK Show Officially Opens with a Focus on Climate-Smart Farming and Trade

The highly anticipated Kitale Agriculture Society of Kenya (ASK) Show officially kicked off on Wednesday at the Kitale Showground, attracting a record number of over 250 exhibitors and a large turnout of farmers, agribusiness stakeholders, and members of the public.

Presiding over the event as the chief guest, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi emphasized the critical role the show plays in advancing agricultural development and economic empowerment in the region.

"This event is key in showcasing innovations that are transforming agriculture. We encourage our farmers to embrace smart agriculture technologies that will increase yields, conserve the environment, and ensure food security," said Commissioner Oyagi.

This year’s theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” underscores the importance of adapting to climate change while leveraging trade and innovation to build a resilient agricultural economy.

The Manager of Kenya Seed Company Sammy Chepsiror expressed satisfaction with the high number of exhibitors and the quality of displays presented at this year's event.

“This year’s participation shows the growing commitment of stakeholders in revolutionizing agriculture. Our focus is on encouraging farmers to adopt climate-resilient practices and tap into trade opportunities that will elevate rural incomes,” said Chepsiror.

acknowledged the efforts of exhibitors in raising the bar of excellence, noting that the judging panel has observed high standards of innovation and presentation.

"This time, we are utilizing technology to evaluate the exhibitors' innovations through a dedicated app," said Mr. Kilong'i.

The show features a wide array of exhibits, including improved seed varieties, mechanized farming equipment, digital agriculture solutions, irrigation technology, livestock breeding innovations, and value addition strategies.

Farmers attending the show will benefit from live demonstrations, expert training sessions, and opportunities to connect with financial service providers, researchers, and agribusiness investors.
