Wiyeta Girls Thrash Kwanza Girls to Clinch Women’s Title
In the women’s final, Sinyereri Ladies (Wiyeta Girls) produced a dominant display to dismantle Dolphine Queens (Kwanza Girls) with a 5-1 victory.
The one-sided encounter saw Wiyeta Girls showcase clinical finishing and cohesive team play.
Goals came from Charity Muhevi (a brace), Ever Passion Ayuma, Filia Khayesi, and Loice Adeti, who each netted one goal. Shanley Nekesa scored the consolation goal for Dolphine Queens after a solo effort by captain Ruth Nyongesa.
Wiyeta Girls were awarded the trophy and a KSh 100,000 prize as champions of the FKF Trans-Nzoia Women’s League.
The league featured 14 teams divided into two groups, running from June to the end of August. The top two teams from each group progressed to the semifinals.
Trans-Nzoia FKF chairman Isaac Munene called on corporates in the region to boost sporting talent through sponsorship.
“This is just the beginning of the league, which had been suspended before we came into office. We can do better with corporate sponsorship,” said Mr. Munene.
