Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya Seeks Auditor General's Help for Sh 400M Pending Bills Audit

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya wants the Office of the Auditor General to carry out an audit of the Sh 400 million pending bills he inherited from his predecessor, Patrick Khaemba. Governor Natembeya stated that his administration wants to ensure that payments are only made for genuine works and supplies to guarantee value for money. "We have set aside Sh 190 million to pay some of the bills in the current financial year, but we want to enlist the help of the Auditor General to ascertain the actual pending bill," said Governor Natembeya.   The Governor spoke at the Kitale National Museum in a meeting with contractors where they raised complaints about delays in payments. Trans Nzoia Nurses Suspend Strike as County Government Commits to Resolve Issues

Nurses in Trans Nzoia County have postponed their strike for two months to allow time for the implementation of frameworks addressing their concerns, as agreed upon in discussions with county government officials. The arbitration between the county’s branch of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) and county government officials, with the participation of the county public service board, was led by Trans Nzoia labor officer Tawfiq Nalianya. A faction of MPs within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has expressed strong disagreement with the party's top leadership following the recent decision to accept four appointments to join the Kenya Kwanza government coalition.
