Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa paid a visit to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu County during a familiarisation tour to assess its operations and challenges. JOOTRH, the largest healthcare facility in western Kenya, serves the region with a 650-bed capacity, 84 medical consultants, and a workforce of 1,000 staff members.  The hospital delivers an average of 400 babies monthly and provides critical care through its 10 ICU beds. During the visit, hospital CEO Dr. Richard Ole Syampe outlined the urgent need for radiotherapy equipment to address the growing cancer care demands in the region.  Dr. Syampe also raised concerns about space constraints in the chemotherapy and cancer center units, which are limiting the hospital’s ability to offer comprehensive cancer treatment services. Health Cabinet Secretary Pushes for Enhanced Community Outreach to Promote SHA

Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deboran Mulongo has emphasized the need for enhanced community engagement and awareness efforts to promote a wider understanding of the Social Health Authority (SHA). Dr. Mulongo said that heightened awareness efforts will help Kenyans better understand how the program operates, addressing emerging concerns and clearing up any confusion. "I urge all leaders to help spread the word about the importance of the SHA. The uptake so far has been commendable," she said during her tour of Kapenguria Referral Hospital in West Pokot County. She stated that the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA) is a key step in the journey toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which aims to ensure that all Kenyans can access quality healthcare without facing financial hardship. Saboti MP Amisi Dismisses Kalonzo's Presidential Ambitions

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has scoffed at Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential ambitions, questioning his ability to mount a serious challenge against President William Ruto. Amisi stated that Kalonzo, along with Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, lacks the political strength required to face Ruto in a national election.  “While its a fact rhat Kenyans are frustrated with President Ruto’s leadership, Kalonzo doesn’t have what it takes to challenge him,” Amisi said during a speech in Luanda. The legislator made his remarks while addressing mourners at the funeral of Mr. Eliud Josia Marende, held at Mumboha Secondary School in Luanda, Vihiga County. According to Amisi, any leader seeking to take on Ruto must demonstrate a rare combination of selflessness and courage, willing to sacrifice personal comfort for the country’s benefit.  “Kenyans are looking for a bold leader who will stand up to the government—not p...

Saboti MP Foresees Turbulent Times Ahead for President Ruto Following Gachagua's Downfall

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has claimed that President William Ruto's political future is bleak and that he is poised to face a political reckoning similar to that experienced by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. MP Amisi argued that President Ruto must confront the consequences of his inability to fulfill his pre-election promises.  "With Gachagua now out of office, Ruto is next in line since he has let down Kenyans and relies solely on Raila," he remarked. He made these comments at Kiungani Primary School during the burial of Eliud Wakashaka Mwichabe, a member of the University Taskforce in Trans Nzoia. DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa accused President Ruto of manipulating the judiciary to impose policies on Kenyans against their will. "Kenyans need to rise up and ensure that President Ruto's leadership ends in the next general elections, as he has failed the nation," Wamalwa stated. Governor George Natembeya emphasized th...

Gachagua Supporters Accuse President Ruto of Betrayal After Replacing Him with Kindiki

A group of traders from the Gema community in Kitale has voiced their disappointment in President William Ruto, accusing him of orchestrating the ousting of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, which they view as a significant act of political betrayal. The traders argued that replacing Gachagua with Kithure Kindiki demonstrates a profound betrayal to the voters from the Mt. Kenya region since president Ruto had previously promised there would be no repeat of the strained relationship he had with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta. "We are extremely unhappy with the developments that led to Rigathi Gachagua's removal from office. President Ruto has betrayed the electorate from the Mt. Kenya region, which overwhelmingly supported him," said Mr. Abraham Njenga. They stated that the president must face the political consequences of Gachagua being pushed out of office, emphasizing that the Mt. Kenya region will forge its own political path in the 2027 general e...
